Who do you Thank?

Recieved this story by email from a friend figured I would share it on my website.

Luke AFB is west of Phoenix and is rapidly being surrounded by civilization that complains about the noise from the base and its planes, forgetting that it was there long before they were. A certain lieutenant colonel at Luke AFB deserves a big pat on the back. Apparently, an individual who lives somewhere near Luke AFB wrote the local paper complaining about a group of F-16s that disturbed his/her day at the mall.

When that individual read the response from a Luke AFB officer, it must have stung quite a bit.

The complaint:

‘Question of the day for Luke Air Force Base:

Whom do we thank for the morning air show? Last Wednesday, at precisely 9:11 A.M, a tight formation of four F-16 jets made a low pass over Arrowhead Mall, continuing west over Bell Road at approximately 500 feet. Imagine our good fortune! Do the Tom Cruise-wannabes feel we need this wake-up call, or were they trying to impress the cashiers at Mervyns early bird special?

Any response would be appreciated. Read more »

Week in Review?

Sorry was busy this past week, hadn’t had much time to make a post.
Here’s what I’ve been up to.

This past weekend, I was with my Army Reserve Unit, The members that are part of the Rear Detachment, since many of the members of my unit are deployed.  We had our Monthly Drill/Battle Assembly for three days. Friday through Sunday. We arrived to the New Armory, which it was most of our first time to see the new Armory from the inside, for the past year we’ve been working out of a small Business Building in Garden Grove, California while the new Armory was being constructed, the building was being shared by several medical unit.  So finaly after at least a year (Since, I’ve been with the unit) it is the first time we’ve been in an Offical Army Reserve Armory     Building.  It’s really is a nice faucility.  Anyways I am rambling, back to the Drill Weekend.   We arrived boarded Buses and headed to Camp Pedelton where we were to conduct weapons qualifcations at the base. We arrived and pretty much started out to the range that morning, but then to find out the Ammo Tracking Software at the base was down so we couldn’t get our Ammo, so we went back to the barracks, which were the same ones used in the 1980′s Clint Eastwood movie “Heartbreak Ridge”

Saturday morning we shuttle back to the range to start Zeroing our Weapons, which was supposed to be what we were going to do the day prior, we arrived to the range at about 0700 (For you Civies Thats 7:00 am) Range Control wouldn’t approve us to start the range do to the Marine Corp inability to accept Digital Singatures on our range form, that the form had to be signed the traditional (John Hancock) by the BN Commander.  So we waited at the range till around 1300 (that 1:00pm)   then finaly were able to start putting rounds down range at our Target to zero the weapons.  We compleated Zeroing all weapons as it started to get dark, so no Qualifcations were started. (Which was what supposed to be done on Saturday)

Sunday we where supposed to be cleaning barracks and packing up to get on the buses to head back to the Armory, we went back to the range and rushed through the Range Qualifcations. Then headed back to the Barracks catch the buses and headed to the Armor, we get back in the afternoon, clean weapons to turn them back in and headed home. What a long weekend.

Then I had Monday off did house cleaning and stuff like that while the roommates were out of town to Las Vegas for the Star Trek Convention, later that night I had to pick them up from the Bus Station.  then the rest of the week has been back to work at my Civilian job.  Nothing all that fun this week so far, perhaps that will change on Saturday when I am off work?

Hope I ammused someone with this post.

Heard from a Soldier of my Army Unit who’s deployed overseas.

Here’s some photos from some of my Unit Soldiers who are forward deployed in Afghanistan, I didn’t get to deploy with them, my MOS (Army Job) was needed on the deployment roster. It’s good to hear from one of the soldiers of the unit. These are recent pictures from the SGT, he gave me permission to post them on the site, I am going to interview with him to find out how it is over there, next time I see him online to talk.  Find out what’s it like for the Unit, which is a Specialty Unit in the United States Army Reserves Combat Stress Control, these soldiers go out to units to help soldiers with their mental needs, especial after tragic events. Such as the example of the Special Operations Soldiers/Seals where killed in the crash the other day in Afghanistan those who were close to those who were killed were effected, as if a member of the family was killed or missing.  It’s true when you go to war or train even with soldiers long enough they become your Brother or Sister, your family, because that’s who’s is going to help you and watch your back over there, so you treat each other like family since your far from your own, and when one is killed in action it effects the entire unit.  These soldiers of the 113th Medical Company do just that help with these soldiers to assist them even if it’s just to be a confident ear to listen to their problems and help the soldier heal.

Politics

I don’t want to get political on my website, but the Congress and the Senete need to get their acts together pass some sort of bill to get the budget and debt Ceilling raised so Soldiers get their pay, I am in the Army Reserves and I feel that our soldiers who are overseas shouldn’t have to be worried if their families back home are going to have enough money to pay bills and eat, they have enought to worry about. If the soldiers don’t get paid the Senete, Congress, and Preisdent even should have their money cut and money taken back or held back till our soldiers get paid.

Saw Transformers 3 Dark Side of the Moon, in 3-D

Last night I saw the new Transformers 3 Movie in 3D, I myself thinki its better then the first two, I am not going to go into all the details or spoil the movie for you, I hate it when people spoil movies that I want to see, but I will tell you this, if you liked the first two transformers movies your love the third installment. Alot more action, alot more Decepticons? One thing I do ask isn’t there more Autobots out there, I can remember when watching the Cartoons seams like their were alot more Autobots. (NOT A SPOILER) Anyways with that aside, seeing it in REAL 3D it was awesome loved the effects of the movie at times made you think your there. I think I tried Dodgeing items that seam to be coming at me a few times during the movie, looks like I wasn’t the only one the people seated next to me did the same thing, good job Micheal Bay and crew. By the way there is a short video before the main end credits, but nothing to watch the entire end credits like I did I wanted to see if there was anything else instore, but not sure dosn’t look like they left much open for another movie.
